May 2007: La Cumbia

La Cumbia
September 1991

This is the original line up of SAILOR with:
~ Georg Kajanus (vocals, guitar), Henry Marsh (accordion), Phil Pickett (bass), Grant Serpell (drums) ~

This performance went down as the "windsurfing pig affair" (see note below)!
The quality is not the best, but as it's so funny........

NOTE:
During this performance the stage was decorated with lots of balloons, and in the middle of the song, some dancers in monkey costumes came on the stage. They were followed by a huge pig which used to be the mascott of the TV show "Die Goldene Eins". It was all very strange, and Georg, Phil, Henry and Grant couldn't help laughing throughout the rest of the song. Georg is often quoted with the sentence: "The dwarves are fine, but the windsurfing pig is definitely out!". The story changes a bit, everytime we hear it, but it quickly got the name "windsurfing pig affair", although the pig was actually wearing a tuxedo and the dwarves dancing in the back were monkeys... Sounds very confusing, doesn't it?!
Oh, and the "Guess what they dance in Columbia" bit at the beginning was cut off by the TV company - not us recording the show!
Well, just have a look......
